AMA DoctorFinder listings are based on data maintained in the AMA Physician Masterfile, the largest and most reliable and unbiased collection of physician information available anywhere. Data on individual physicians, spanning the continuum from undergraduate medical education through physician practice, are continuously updated. Unlike other physician locator services, physicians do not pay a fee to be included in AMA DoctorFinder or in the AMA Physician Masterfile.
Each physician listed in AMA DoctorFinder is a doctor of medicine (MD) or a doctor of osteopathy or osteopathic medicine (DO), and is licensed to practice in one or more of the 54 US licensing jurisdictions, including the District of Columbia, Guam, Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands.
Physician listings include AMA members and nonmembers, with information on AMA members presented more prominently. Physician information is layered to provide expedient access and can be searched by physician name, practice specialty, and illness or condition.
Each listing provides basic information about physician's credentials, such as physician name, specialty, office address, phone number, gender, AMA membership status, medical school and year of graduation, graduate medical education, board certification, AMAP accreditation and AMA Physician's Recognition Award status.
AMA member listings may include expanded information such as a photograph of the physician or his/her office and information about the physician's office hours, hospital admitting privileges, HMO affiliations, managed care plan participation, Medicare/Medicaid participation, additional languages spoken, and professional achievements/awards.
AMA member licensed physicians may request an expanded listing by contacting the AMA Department of Data Survey and Planning at the location below. For membership information,
